Vox has a new website

November 18th, 2008

We now have a  dedicated website for Vox Sheffield. Check it out at: www.voxsheffield.com.

It’s not great quality, but here’s some video footage of Hannah Atkins one of the performers at The VOX Party held at The Forum in Sheffield in July.

Last night (23rd July) saw the first VOX party finally arrive Sheffield. Well over 100 people came to experience an eclectic mix of art, music, sculpture, and photography. This first launch event, held at the Forum on Division Street, was the start of what is hoped to be regular events that in the future will give voice to very specific issues, causes, and situations ranging from human trafficking to abused women to disadvantaged youth. Below are some pictures from the evening. (You can see all the pictures from the evening here as well.)

Opening Strengths Night

June 21st, 2007

Last night was the first of what we hope to be regular Strengths events. Based around the Clifton StrengthsFinder tool developed by the Gallup organisation, the event was an informal, interactive seminar at the Lounge on West Street in the centre of Sheffield. It was a great night with a real buzz throughout the whole evening. Having a crowd of people all talking about what they’re good at brings a definite energy with it. Seeing the lights go on for people as they start to understand more about themselves or their partner or colleague is always fun to see.

Here’s what people were saying afterwards:

“Thought it was excellent - really interesting to talk to lots of different people and compare stories. Good fun and well organised.”

“An excellent taster session.”

“Great event, great venue!”

If you’re interested in coming along to the next Strengths event, make sure you join the mailing list.

Welcome to the party that changes the world…an event that matters…direct from Vox Sheffield and voxtropolis.com

Vox events are all about voice (Latin: vox). There is no set schedule for how frequently these underground party’s happen, but when they do we find the best of local art, local business, and local culture, combine them with the greatest of human needs on the planet, and give it all voice.

We believe that the best art and entertainment is meaningful. We believe that business should use profits to build people instead of using people to build profits. We believe that compassion can define a culture.

We believe that there are new voices that need to sound. We believe there are voices that need to be heard. We believe in being the voice of those who have none. We believe the right voice can change the world … and there’s no better reason than that to throw a party.

Vox events will always be entirely a not-for-profit, volunteer effort. If you would like to contribute you time, money, or creativity towards making these events happen then get in touch.
